The theme of our meeting: Giorgio Morandi—the metaphysics of simplicity.
Giorgio Morandi is a truly unique figure in 20th-century art. Consciously limiting himself to the genre of still life and, to a lesser extent, landscape, he never claimed to be an innovator or pioneer. Nevertheless, Morandi became one of the most important and key artists of the late 1940s and early 1960s.
In this lecture by Dr. Natalia Evseeva, you will learn what constitutes the genius of his seemingly simple paintings, how the artist worked on his paintings, how to view and understand Morandi’s art, and how his work inspired famous film directors Federico Fellini and Michelangelo Antonioni — representatives of Italian neorealism.
To fully immerse ourselves in the artist’s work, we will taste Italian wines with light snacks.
The events are held in Russian for people over 18 years old.
